Ahhh, life in Nicaragua. I am writing this from the hammock on my porch, listening to the waves on the beach. I joke that it is my office, but really it is the only part of the house with a good internet signal. It is a good life, full of adventure and excitement, and tranquility and peace. I made the decision four years ago to move here part time, and then a couple of years later to make the move permanent. I have not regretted it for a minute

Playa Madera near San Juan del Sur is one of the best surfing beaches on the southwest coast of Nicaragua

Since arriving I have been active building Vista Playa Madera a small ecologically orient community nestled in the hills above Playa Madera. It is a wonderful area with a amazing climate, beautiful beaches, great waves, and friendly people. I have also been active with some volunteer work. As an ex-forester I have been helping replant sections of the river edge that flows into the La Flor turtle sanctuary,

 to prevent muddy sedimentation from degrading the sand needed to lay there eggs, and helping create a women's cooperative planting a fruit orchard.
